Summer 2013 research assistantships are available in the area of climate
science within the Department of Meteorology at Penn State University (University
Park Campus). Appointment is for ten weeks, starting 3 June 2013. Positions are ideally suited for atmospheric science,
ecology, physics, mathematics, and engineering undergraduates. During the
summer, field and laboratory research activities will be done at Penn State
University and will require 40 hours per week. Responsibilities include
research experimental design, data acquisition with state-of-the-art
instruments, analyses of data sets,
numerical modeling, writing of research reports, and presenting findings at
research symposia. Examples of research projects include impacts of natural gas
mining on regional air quality and climate, forest carbon sequestration, cloud
condensation characteristics of aerosols, and gas and aerosol transport in the
lower
atmosphere. The research assistantships are ideally suited for
juniors and seniors who plan to go to graduate school. Interested candidates can submit a job
