STA Interviews at Villanova University - Feb. 7, 2011

A representative from SOUTHERN TEACHERS AGENCY (STA) will be interviewing at Villanova University on Monday, February 7, 2011 in Garey Hall. The interviews start at 8:45 am and run until 4:00 pm. The University of Alabama Summer Undergraduate Research Participation Program

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alabama, is offering a ten-week program which will begin May 30, 2011. Participants will be paid a $5,000 stipend, and provided housing in on-campus apartments. Application for the UA-REU are available by calling 205-348-5954. University of Kansas - Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The University of Kansas Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is offering a ten-week program for undergraduate students to participate in paid laboratory research. UNL Chemistry Faculty/Student Summer Research Program

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Chemistry announces a summer research experience for a faculty and student pair for Summer 2011; they are seeking one pair (professor and undergraduate student) from a four-year college. Summer stipends will be provided, and it is anticipated that the collaboration will continue during the 2011/2012 academic year. The summer stipend for the professional member will be $6,000 per month for up to two full months of full-time commitment to the project. The student will receive $5,000 plus room and board for 10 weeks of commitment to the projection. Application deadline: March 2011. ACS Philadelphia Section 11th Annual Poster Session

On Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Temple University (the Mitten Hall Great Court, Philadelphia, PA) the American Chemical Association will be holding their 11th Annual Poster Session. All are invited to participate and attend. This is an excellent opportunity for students to present their research. Abstracts for posters may be submitted in ALL areas of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Biochemistry. (Abstracts in ACS electronic format should be submitted to gradposters@aol.com by January 28th, 2011. You must include: electronic copy, professor's name, principal author's name and level of study (undergraduate, graduate, high school), affiliation of all authors and institutions involved in submitted work.) NASA Summer Undergraduate Internships in Astrobiology

NASA's Goddard Center for Astrobiology Summer Undergraduate Insternships has six to eight spots open for undergraduate students who wish to gain research experience in areas related to Astrobiology, such as observational and laboratory astrochemistry, composition of comets and meteorites, infrared astronomy (spectrosopy and physics of comets, planets, and exoplanets), dynamics of the proto-planetary disk, advanced instrument development, and so on. This is a ten-week program and consists of one-on-one research with a scientist or member of the GCA team. Research Position Available - Drexel University

Drexel University College of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology has a opening for a BS-level research technician to pursue studies of the nuclear pore complex. This is a one-year, full time position with benefits and as such it is ideal for newly graduated Chemistry majors who are looking to bolster their research experience before applying to graduate or medical school. National Honor Society for Women in Chemistry

IOTA SIGMA PI is soliciting nominations for the following awards and scholarships: 2011 Agnes Fay Morgan Research Award; 2011 Centennial Award for Excellence in Teaching, 2011 Violet Diller Award for Professional Excellence; 2011 National Honorary Member. Deadline for submission is FEBRUARY 15, 2011 for the annual awards and FEBRUARY 15, 2011 for the triennial awards. All nomination forms and criteria for the awards and scholarships are in the Chemistry Student Computer Lounge (M211). The award amounts are $500 for the Agnes Fay Morgan Research Award and the Centennial Award for Excellence in Teaching, and $1,0000 for the Violet Diller Award for Professional Excellence, and $1500 for the National Honorary Member.
