University of Southern California - NSF's Research Experience for Undergraduates

The University of Southern California's Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences are soliciting applications to their summer undergraduate research program.   This is a ten-week (June 3 - August 10, 2013) program and is an opportunity for students to conduct research in residence in their Chemistry Department.   Housing, student health insurance, and travel costs are covered by the department and students will also receive a stipend.   Sophomores and juniors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents may apply online by visiting:  http://chem.usc.edu/undergraduate/reu_prog.html    Application deadline is February 15, 2013.   For more information, please contact Anahit Martirosyan  by email at  amartiro@usc.edu.

CDC/ATSDR Summer Environmental Health Internship

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Environmental Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (NCEH/ATSDR) are offering a paid 10-week summer internship program for students who are passionate about the environment, interested in human health, and curious about how they are linked.  Interns will be based at NCEH/ATSDR's Chamblee Campus and will be paid a stipend of approximately $600 a week during the course of the program.    The program runs from June 12 to August 16, 2013.   Application due date is January 30, 2013.   You must be a US citizen or permanent resident with a green card, be a full time student at a college or university as a rising junior or rising senior by fall 2013 and have a minimum cum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Please go to www.cdc.gov/nceh/cleh for more information and application instructions or email Jay Nielsen or Christa Essig at CLEH@cdc.gov.

The University of Alabama 2013 SURP suppported by the NSF

The University of Alabama is pleased to announce their 2013 Undergraduate Research Participation (SURP) program, support by the NSF for students (preferably juniors, who will be seniors in the 2013-2014 academic year) who plan to attend graduate school in chemistry or a related field.  Each student who is chosen to participate will receive a $5,000 stipend plus on-campus housing in furnished apartment during the 10-week program (May 27 - August 2, 2013).   Please apply online at http://www.bama.ua.edu/~chem/undergraduate/summerprogs/surp.html.  (There are applications in the Chemistry Majors Student Lounge.)   Any questions, please call 205-348-5954.  The deadline for receipt of the application is February 28, 2013.

The University of Kansas - Department of Pharmacetical Chemistry Summer Undergraduate Research Program

Purdue University - NSF Sponsored REU program for summer 2013

Summer Undergraduate Research Programs in Chemistry - Penn State

The department of chemistry at the Pennsylvania State University invites highly motivated undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry majors to participate in chemistry research in an environment that embraces and encourages excellence and inclusiveness.   With funding from the National Science Foundation and the 3M Foundation, students will work for ten weeks (May 23 - August 2) on chemical research with an outstanding group of research mentors conducting an independent project.   You must be a junior or senior in fall 2013, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be a US citizen or permanent resident.  A generous stipend, campus housing and reimbursement for travel costs will be provided.   Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.    Application deadline:   February 21, 2013   For more information and to apply, visit:  www.chem.psu.edu/reu
